Turkey has always been a top destination for tourists seeking sun, sea and sights but it is now also becoming a popular place to visit on a cruise. The long beautiful coastline provides a wonderful selection of interesting and beautiful places for people to visit.

Marmaris in South West Turkey is the country’s biggest beach resort. It is also a sensational stop for many cruises, allowing passengers to stop and enjoy the traditional hammams (steam baths). The beautiful town on Dalyan is nearby where many hundreds of years of history are on show, with Lycian tombs and the Ancient Kaunos theatre being great attractions. Dalyan beach plays host to endangered loggerhead turtles, protected by wooden stakes which mark out their nesting grounds.

Thomson Holidays offer Cruise and Stay holidays, which combines a week cruising with a week staying in a Dalaman hotel or apartment. The cruise part of the holiday has three different options: Egypt and the Holy Land, Ancient Wonders or Crimean Discovery. These offer an unmissable introduction to the Turkish cruising destinations along with other key cities in the region.

Alanya is an ancient town which is believed to have been inhabited since pre-historic times. The town was given to Cleopatra as a present from Mark Anthony in 44BC. For modern day visitors, there is plenty to do and see. The pretty harbour is surrounded by a wide assortment of restaurants and cafes, where you can sit and relax between your sight seeing trips. The striking Citadel with its hexagonal Red Tower is in the centre of the port. One great place to visit is the Damlatas Cave, where stalagmites and stalactites have formed over the years to create magical rocky formations. Thomson Celebration’s Portrait of the Past cruise visits Alanya as part of its voyage around the Eastern Mediterranean and the Black Sea.

The Blue Cruise in Bodrum is another interesting holiday idea. The term “Blue Cruise” derives from a Turkish book by Azra Erhat and usually refers to a sailing holiday in the Turkish riviera. Many companies offer cruises on traditional Turkish gulets (sailing boats) or it is possible to charter a yacht for a dream holiday with a group of friends or family.

Kusadasi is a delightful seaside town on the Aegean coast, where the silky sands tempt many tourists to chill out and enjoy the turquoise blue waters. For more of an active trip, the town of Ephesus is nearby. Ephesus was the site of Temple of Artemis, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. It has a colourful history as an Ancient Greek city, then later as a key Roman city. Many ancient ruins remain, including the largest collection of Roman ruins in the Eastern Mediterranean.

So if you have never ventured past the beautiful beaches of the Turkish coast, then you may have missed out. Turkey’s rich and varied history has left many spectacular sights that can be easily visited from a cruise trip and are sure to enrich your holiday experience.

If you are looking for a romantic vacation with your partner, it will be your supreme desire to go to a destination that offers you the most entertaining and exciting activities. You will love to spend your time at a place that is endowed with natural and scenic beauty along with some entertaining activities.

Before selecting any destination, you need to consider the following aspects.

  1. Is the place appropriate for romantic vacation.
  2. What the place has for its tourists.
  3. The luxuries and comforts of the selected destination.
  4. Major tourist attractions.

So the above mentioned aspects will help you a lot in judging whether the place is right for you or not.

It is quite apparent that couples travel to the most beautiful and alluring destinations to have a perfect vacation. To make your trip ideal, you must avoid traveling to the destinations that are mentioned below.

1. Harare in Zimbabwe

This city has been voted as the world’s worst to live in. Recent political turmoil has made it a dangerous place for travelers from around the globe. Safety (or the lack thereof) is the most important issue that is associated with the country. Being a corrupted, lawless and violent country, it is the worst option for romantic couples as well as for individuals.

2. Afghanistan

Do you think couples travel to Afghanistan?

Being an unstable country, it is not the relevant place to have fun filled vacation. The ongoing civil war has become a serious threat for travelers. Cases of kidnapping and killing are very common in the country. Moreover, the country is not equipped with comforts and recreational activities that you can enjoy to have a memorable time.

3. Iran

Do you think couples travel to Iran, a place where they are not allowed to drink alcohol and dancing is forbidden?

Alcohol is strictly banned in this country. Even, the tourists are not allowed to consume alcohol. Moreover, the females are not allowed to wear western outfits. If any individual, whether male or female, tries to violate the rules of the country, they receive harsh beatings and even death penalties. The place is not the correct choice for the couples who are living in western countries and who love alcohol.

4. Jurez, Mexico

It is impossible that couples would want to travel to the “Murder Capital of the world”?

Jurez is the city where Mexico meets United States of America. There are many people in the city who are living below poverty line. However, the main issue that the city is facing is the agitation, drug addiction and lack of order. Due to the long instability, the city has very low standard of the living and nothing for tourists.

5. West Point, Monrovia, Liberia

Do couples travel to a place where toilets are scarce?

The country is so poor that it is not able to fulfill the basic needs of the people residing in the country. Teenagers are addicted to drugs and prostitution is very common. If you travel to this place you will not get fresh water or air. Which are pretty important things to have for a romantic vacation, no?

When traveling, it is always best to go in a group. As the common saying goes, “The more, the merrier.” Though this is true for many travelers, others believe that traveling with a partner is better since there it only requires fewer things to attend to, plus you get more alone time for a little loving ;-)

Benefits of Traveling With a Partner

Couples, whether married or not, can travel together. In fact, this is when they get to spend a lot of quality time together, especially if they seldom see each other back in their busy day-to-day lives. For most couples, going on a vacation together is one of the precious moments they can cherish for the rest of their days.

If you want to travel as a couple, here are some of the benefits you can enjoy:

1. Cost

When you travel as a couple, you have the option to split the expenses. A man paying for all the expenses is an old tradition and couples are now modern and open minded. Everything becomes light and easy if shared, so couples have great advantage when it comes to expenses and money matters.

2. Time

Some couples seldom see each other due to the nature of their work. The only time that they get to spend time together is during a vacation. If you travel with your partner, you can have the quality time you need in order to catch up and deepen your relationship and commitment to each other.

3. Sharing

A couple may share in everything. Aside from the expenses, one of the best things they get is good memories together. Being with someone you love on a foreign land is a good way of sharing your love for each other.

4. Care

For couples, taking care of each other comes naturally. When in other places, you tend to care for each other more. In case of danger, the other partner can also come to the rescue.

Downfall of Having a Travel Partner

After learning the benefits, it is also important to know the disadvantages of traveling as a couple. Though ideally, it is a positive memory to have, there are instances when it becomes a challenge for both of you.

If you have an argument before going on a vacation, the tendency is for you to bring the conflict with you. This is something that every couple should avoid because it can ruin the whole vacation. If possible, settle everything first before going on a vacation.

Being together for several days can also initiate conflicts. If you are not used to being together day and night, a few days of vacation may cause a fight due to having individual differences. For some couples, arguments are inevitable, so try to focus on the fun parts of your vacation as much as possible, and give each other room to breathe when necessary.

Being with a partner can limit your opportunities to meet new people. There are some couples whose world only revolves around each other. In such cases, the idea of meeting others isn’t an option. If your partner is conservative, that may also limit you from talking to strangers or finding new friends.

Generally, travelling is a fun activity especially when shared with the people you love. Whether you are with a partner, family, or friends, make sure that every minute together is cherished.

Shocking, I know, but there are some people in this world who have very little interest in traveling. For some reason, visiting different places just does not interest them.

On the other hand, there are also a lot of people who never stop seeing the beauty of the world.

The Concept of Comfort Zone

When talking about comfort zones, the idea is living normally and doing the things that people are familiar with. Normally, people love to stay within their comfort zones because there are no surprises, nothing unexpected.

But in order to change and grow, the first thing you need to do is to get outside your comfort zone. Only then will you be able to do something different and change yourself for the better.

How Traveling Can Get You Out of Your Comfort Zone

For non-travelers, their comfort zone is their home town or the place where they have lived their whole life. This is the same place that they see every single day, and the place where they spend most of their time. To stay within such a comfort zone can also become boring over time.

One way of breaking the monotony and getting out of your comfort zone is through trave.  By traveling, you are able to visit different places that have diverse tradition, culture, customs, people and more.

For a person who seldom goes out and prefers to stay within the comfort zone, traveling is a highly recommended activity because:

1. You get to visit different places

Traveling can bring you to places that you have never been to before. If in your hometown you only have a park to visit, you may have a different adventure in other places such as mountain trekking or rock climbing. In such a way, you are doing what you have never done before.

2. You get to experience the people

In every place you visit; you can receive warm hospitality from the people. In this way, you get to learn about them and experience what they do within their comfort zone.

3. You get to try something different

Every place is unique and travelers may do out-of-the-ordinary things when in other places. Some places offer extra ordinary activities that are not found in your hometown.

4. You get to immerse in a different culture

Learning the culture of the people is always part of traveling. Most places have rich culture and this is one of the things that travelers shouldn’t miss. In fact, culture is one of the most interesting things that should be learned.

5. You get to learn new things

Traveling is always accompanied with adventures and new things. For most travelers, this is one of the main goals that they need to accomplish. When you visit a place, make sure to bring something with you when you go home. It may not necessarily be a souvenir item, but an intangible thing that can be cherished for the rest of your life. If you are on a foreign land, make sure to learn new things and share them with other people.

With all the great benefits that people can get from traveling, it is indeed one of the best ways to get outside your comfort zone. Warning: Traveling can be addictive.

Flying is Far Safer Than Driving

Flying today is an accepted and normal method of travel that keeps people traveling to the places they very much desire and need to go to every day. As accepted and routine as this form of travel is, there are still quite a lot of travelers who have unwarranted fears of flying.

How to control your fear of flying is quite simple when you understand the safety that is so inherent in flying. Though it has been said many times before, it is worth mentioning that the most dangerous part of any airline flight is indeed the trip in your car to the airport. In truth, car accidents account for far more accidents, injuries, and deaths than airline travel could ever take credit for each year.

Traveling As A Couple Helps

When traveling as a couple, people with flying fears are better able to discuss their concerns with each other. Talking is one of the best ways to dismiss any myths or false fears. By talking with your partner you are better able to work out, in your own mind, why you feel scared in an airplane.

Aircraft today are safer then they have ever been. This is because safety in the airline industry is constantly being improved and refined. Safety is not a static situation in aviation, as safety experts are always discovering and implementing new ways to make an already impeccable safety record even better. It can be said that travel by air is one of the truly safest modes of transportation in the world.

Simple Tips For Relaxing On An Airplane

There are several things you and your partner can do to relieve stress and the fear of flying while traveling by air. One way is to try simple breathing exercises. By learning to control your breathing in times of fear, you can consciously allow yourself to relax and be more at ease. Try taking deep breathes through your mouth and then slowly releasing this breath through the nose with your mouth closed. This helps to reduce anxiety and apprehension, by slowing the heart rate.

Another smart tip for how to control your fear of flying, or any fear for that matter, is to close your eyes and try simple meditation techniques.

Mini-Meditation Breaks Help To Relax

Meditation is a powerful way to bring on lasting relaxation, and does not have to be complicated or require being alone. In truth meditation can be a simple process involving closing your eyes and deliberately clearing your mind of unwanted thoughts. With a little practice this can be a very effective way to control anxiety.

Finally, reading and partaking in simple routine tasks will help to keep your mind occupied and off of unwanted and illogical thoughts regarding flying on an airplane.

Air travel has evolved over many years of practice, to become one of the absolute best and safest modes of travel on the planet. By shaking off unwarranted fears and dispelling myths, you and your flying partner can enjoy a peaceful and relaxing flight to almost anywhere in the world.

Couples who have just gotten married certainly need to take a romantic honeymoon as a means of celebrating their wedding bliss. These splendid getaways are an excellent way for couples to relax in a tranquil locale while establishing a stronger bond. Following are the ten best honeymoon destinations for newlywed travelers.

Las Vegas

For many years, honeymooners have been quite fond of this destination. Newlywed couples can easily find excitement at one of the many casinos in the city. Another way newlyweds can bond is to enjoy one of Las Vegas’ thrilling live shows while sitting close to each other. Couples can also stay at one of the fantastic hotel suites in the city to get cozy with each other.

Aspen

Honeymoons are not always merely about beaches and sun. Newlywed couples can pay a visit to the luxuriant Colorado mountain town if they are interested in taking a romantic wintertime getaway, and enjoy the tranquil views and world-class skiing of the towering peaks. For tourists, the community is quite vibrant as it is filled with nice restaurants and shops.

Hawaii

Newlywed couples can have a remarkable honeymoon experience by spending their honeymoon at any of the Hawaiian Islands. Signature traits of this peaceful location include beaches covered with celestial sand, exotic landscapes and sunny weather. Couples can attend an authentic luau, hike the Diamond Head trails, or go to Hanauma Bay and snorkel there. Couples can even simply relax at one of the many luxury resorts in Hawaii.

Tahiti

This South Pacific island is renowned for its perfect climate and black sand beaches. Newlyweds can witness the island’s eye-catching natural beauty by hiking to waterfalls, like Faarumai or Fautaua. On this marvelous island paradise, couples will also find a lot of exotic animal and plant life.

St. Barts

St. Barts is quite an exotic location that couples should surely try if they want to have a tropical honeymoon. This beautiful island is situated in the Caribbean Sea and it gets a special flavor by its French influence. The radiant hues of color of the seawater that can be seen from the beaches enhance the appeal of the island. Newlyweds who want to long for some private time will find Shell Beach quite perfect.

Mexico

Newlywed couples who want to spice up their romance should pay a visit to Mexico. Couples will be offered a lot of white sand beaches and beautiful scenery with nearby ruins that date back to the Mayan Empire at the beaches of Cancun. In Mexico, another excellent choice for newlyweds to share special moments while gazing at the impressive sunsets is Puerto Vallerta.

Italy

Newlywed travelers who want to enjoy some romantic moments are also quite fond of this established European nation as a honeymoon destination. Couples can enjoy a dreamy experience while riding through the canals of Venice on a gondola. Couples can also take a memorable photograph in front of Leaning Tower of Pisa to remind them of their romantic honeymoon.

Honeymoons are joyful, once in a lifetime occasions, so it is important that newlywed couples choose the right destination for their honeymoon to ensure a memorable, special experience together.

The post 7 Reasons Why We Hate Travelling appeared first on Tours For 2.

]]>
You might call them spoiled, but once a couple is traveling, high hopes and expectations are always created and raised. The following are seven reasons why traveling couples like ourselves occasionally hate traveling.

1. Checked-Bag Fees

Checking a few bags, provided they aren’t oversize or overweight, has always been a complimentary service for couples who are air traveling. But all that changed in early February 2008, when US and United Airways began to charge $25 for every second checked bag. Then later American Airlines started instituting $15 charge for your first luggage. The rate now is $25 for my first bag and then $35 for my wife’s bag which is the second luggage on flights. This has made many couples hate traveling.

2. Pay for Pets

An estimate of 2 million animals usually travel on airplanes every year. During the late 1980s they were flying as excess baggage for an average of $30 to $35. This fee depended on the airline. Nowadays, Bruce, Garfield and friends cost a couple between $100 to $125 if they are shipped as the carry-on luggage, or equal to $250 in the checked kennel. Couples who don’t like to leave their pets behind while traveling now prefer staying home themselves to avoid these crazy fees.

3. Surly staff

Yup, even in service-driven countries where couples expect to be treated politely having flown thousands of miles to enjoy or even on a honeymoon.

It is annoying when you are waiting at the reception to check in and the receptionist tends to pay more attention to phone lines ringing around instead of serving us.

Hotel staff, just like the rest of the people in the service industry, are paid to be friendly, to smile and be polite. But many of them fail miserably and you often wish you did not have to deal with them.

4. Hotel room windows that do not open

After being cooped up in airports, planes and trains, what traveling couples want more than anything else is to breathe some fresh air. Even though not all hotel rooms have a balcony but if the window opens they feel that connection to the environment outside and also gauge the temperatures outside so when they step out of their hotel room they are wearing the right clothing. But if the windows do not open you are just stuck in the stuffy room.

5. Inhuman wake-up calls

If couples ask at reception for the morning wake-up call so they can go for an early safari, the staff should give them a cheery humane voice saying:

“Good morning Philips family, it is 7am; this is your wake up call so that you can prepare for the Safari.”

The prerecorded message is an absolute second best but the couples feel unloved when their ringing phone wakes them in a strange place, they pick up and there is no one there, just a lonely silence that shows no one cares or loves them. They have that a feeling that they are not people but a room number.

6. Tip hungry staff

Obsequious staff who follow the couples around almost everywhere, trying to foist help them when they do not need it and then linger awkwardly for some tip! They are just as bad as the surly staff. They don’t even care whether the couples are traveling on a tight budget.

7. Too few electrical sockets

Traveling couples have to recharge their iPads, cameras, laptops and mobile phones so that they can download, back up photos or even share their traveling experiences with their families back home, so sockets are very essential.
