Indonesia Overview
Indonesia is one of the most interesting and varied countries in the world. It is also one of the largest countries in the world--both in size and population--and includes such fabled islands as Java, Bali, Sumatra, Borneo and New Guinea. Consisting of over 3,000 islands with hundreds of languages, it stretches from East to West over an area wider than the United States. When people used to speak of the South Sea Islands, they were referring to present-day Indonesia.
Yet, Indonesia is not widely known to Americans. We at Tours For 2 want to remedy that situation. Even with the low U.S. Dollar, Indonesia is still a travel bargain. Once you arrive there, you will find that two people traveling together can stay at luxury hotels and travel with a private guide and vehicle at an extremely reasonable rate. You will be able to visit the fabulous Buddhist and Hindu temples of Central Java, the still-traditional Hindu island of Bali, perhaps the most beautiful island in the world, and the extraordinary cliff-side burial sites of Torajaland on the island of Celebes. If you are willing to give up a small amount of comfort, you can see orangutans in Borneo up-close or travel to Komodo Island to see the Komodo dragon. We can even arrange a trip to the interior of Indonesian New Guinea, known as Irian Jaya, an area much less touched by tourism than the other side of this large island, Papua New Guinea.
